Stasera finalmente prenderanno il via le attesissime Olimpiadi di Londra 2012 e quale giorno migliore della fastosa cerimonia di apertura dei XXX Giochi Olimpici per riproporvi Spinnin’ For 2012, la prima canzone ufficiale di Londra 2012. Il brano, ribattezzato Olympic torch relay song, è cantato in duetto da Dionne Bromfield e Tinchy Stryder. La prima è la sedicenne figlioccia di Amy Winehouse che il prossimo novembre pubblicherà il suo terzo album in studio dopo il disco d’esordio Introducing Dionne Bromfield del 2009 e Good for the Soul del 2011. Il secondo, invece, è un 26enne rapper londinese di origini ghanesi con quattro album all’attivo, l’ultimo, Full Tank, di imminente uscita. Spinnin’ For 2012 è stata composta originariamente dalla rapper londinese Speech Debelle, vincitrice nel 2009 del Mercury Prize, ma è stata poi riscritta da Dionne Bromfield con Tinchy Stryder. La canzone è stata inserita nella tracklist del secondo album della talentuosa cantautrice soul britannica, Good for the Soul.

Il videoclip della prima canzone realizzata per le Olimpiadi di Londra 2012 (completamente diversa dall’inno ufficiale dei Muse, Survival) è stato girato nella capitale britannica dall’americano Dale Anthony “Rage” Resteghini, rinominato regista di video musicali che ha collaborato con artisti del calibro di Nicki Minaj, N-Dubz, Lil Wayne, Guns N’ Roses, Flo-Rida, Busta Rhymes, Alexandra Burke e Pitbull.
