Non potrò mai dimenticare il suo telegramma al mio primo Sanremo, mi scrisse: “Olè”. Fu il primo messaggio e ne fui onorato, ci mancherà tanto la sua genialità, era un grande…

I do not want to take the position of an mp3 ddawlonoer defender because Ib4m not one. The greatest part of the music that we are speaking about, and that I listen, I do it in Cdb4s. Very little is in mp3b4s and because I do not have the option to listen the CDb4s ( material that is out of print, or web labels releases). I can comment a few things though:- I deeply prefer to have the complete sound quality, and I prefer CDb4s to mp3, in a very clear way.- I found nice music in web labels. If you listen to it properly or not is a decision. I have met several people that listens to improvised-new music in CDb4s and do not find the time to listen to the CDb4s properly. That makes no difference at all in my opinion. It has to do with how much time and concentration you dedicate to it.- The Cds buying habit has the problem of becoming clearly addictiv, as any other consumming habit. And Im not exagerating. I have found lots of people in Cd stores that buys amounts impossible to listen, people that needs to buy. I do not think that they are good quality listeners. Even if they had the time, I do not imagine that anybody can hear such an amount of CDb4s per day properly.- The music that we are speaking about here exists almost totally in terms of releases in Europe- USA- Japan and a few more places (Australia, Korea, less).People that makes independent music in South America for example (cases that I know) cannot come to tour in Europe-USA- Japan, or release in these countries easily, and mp3- CDrs labels are the only way they have now to make their music be released , or get out of their countries. I wonder how many label directors make the effort to listen to unknown musician from those countries. I know that Jacques does. But is not the common case. I also wonder how should these people do when there are almost no labels there, or when is so difficult to have the money to make your own releases.- For someone who lives outside economical strong countries ( Argentina for example) a european CD costs what in europe would be 80 euros per CD. What can mean the equivalent of buying food for a week. People there download quite a bit, listen to bad quality versions of good quality sound makers. But is that or nothing.- I repeat, we released with Yannis there because we could not find a CD label. We were deeply convinced about the music and it was not a minor thing at all. Luckily we did it. I met ONE person who came to a concert who had known my work through that release, whos says to enjoy it, and for me that justifies the decision.So. Best to all. l
